A new beginning...

Today was the first day for our class! We are a newly formed satellite class based at Ashgrove School, but who also belong to Allenvale School.

In our class we have 5 students, 1 teacher and 2 teacher assistants. Let us introduce ourselves:

Johnandrew is 10yrs old. He loves the colour pink and his favourite food is sausages. 

Lake is 9yrs old and loves the colour blue.  His favourite food is cake!

Kieran has just turned 7yrs old and is totally obsessed with the colour RED. He is a very sociable boy who is looking forward to making lots of new friends at Ashgrove.

Sophie-Marie is 8yrs old and is looking forward to being at the same school as her younger sister. Her favourite animal is the Cheetah because it runs very fast and is yellow.

Kereama is 6yrs old and loves to play with cars. His favourite animal is dogs and he has two of them at home.

Term 4 is flying by!

Oh dear - I just realised I haven't posted anything since the end of last term! Apologies, it has been a whirlwind 4 weeks, and I think the remaining 5 weeks are going to be the same! Here are a few highlights from the term so far: Firstly, we welcomed a new student to our class! Grace joins us from St Joseph's School and has settled in really well. That takes our number of students up to 8, so things are pretty busy now! Because of this, we have also welcomed Tania (who was next door in Rm21), into our class for the rest of the year to give us a hand - thank you Tania! On Thurs 18th Oct we participated in the New Zealand Shake Out - a national earthquake drill. We watched The Turtle Safe song  and practiced for several days prior. Then at 9.30am on the 18th, we pretended there was an earthquake and all dropped to the ground and covered our heads. Some of us hid under tables too. Week 1

What a fantastic first week we have had! Everyone has settled in so well, we have learned our way around, made some new furniture, and met lots of new friends. Here are a few photos from our week, Liz didn't take many as we were so busy! Kereama and Johnandrew enjoyed checking out the new toys. Kereama's favourite is the fire engine that opens up to reveal a mini city, and Johnandrew's favourite is the cash register. Sophie-Marie gave the mini tramp a good bounce! Kieran turned 7yrs old last week so we celebrated his birthday on Monday. Johnandrew also had a birthday last week - turning 10! So we had a double celebration. Lake showed us his tricks on the bars at morning tea time. What a successful week we have had. We are all excited to see what the rest of the term will bring.

A gloomy Week 8

Well the weather has certainly not been kind to us lately! We have been spending a lot of time inside, but as soon as the rain stops we put on jackets and venture outside for some fresh air. While inside, one of our most popular activities recently has been the dominoes.  Some students enjoy building big long tracks and then knocking them down and watching them fall. Other students have been investigating building towers. We also watched a youtube clip of a massive dominoes display that happened in Melbourne in 2016 (and Liz was lucky enough to see in person!) - it took 15mins for them all to fall down! As I mentioned above, as soon as the rain stops we have been doing our best to get out of the classroom and enjoy the fresh air..... and the puddles! Today Savannah pulled up her trouser legs and sleeves, and then had a truly fabulous time splashing in puddles in the playground. It did mean a change of socks when she came back inside too though...
