Bits and pieces from the last week or two

I couldn't choose just one thing to write about for this post, so here are a few snippets of things that have been happening.

1) Our new tea set! Steph found a tea set for a bargain price recently so bought it for our class. It was an instant hit with many of our students and there have been many tea parties, cooking sessions, doing the dishes etc this week. Thanks for the great new resource Steph!

2) We are often quite tired towards the end of the day so have been building some 'relaxation time' into our afternoon programme. Sometimes we enjoy the GoNoodle song 'Chillax' to get us to focus on breathing and stretching, but other times we get out the cushions and blankets, turn the lights off, and listen to some relaxing music for 10-15mins. Our favourite relaxation music are this ocean themed music video and this 'sleep music with ocean and jungle sounds' youtube clips.

3) We have been lucky to have good weather on the last two Fridays for our outing day despite rain just about every other day!  Last week we had a 'Little Red Riding Hood' picnic at Victoria Park with our basket of muffins made in cooking the day before, and some hot chips - delicious.

Then this week we had an awesome time playing on the playground by Pegasus Lake. Everyone is doing so well with our community outing skills like behaving sensibly in public, staying with the group, not talking to people we don't know, taking turns on equipment, and responding appropriately when it is time to leave - well done team! And I was so proud of several students who bravely tried new things (like the big tunnel slide) at the playground too - great job!
